Lactel Sporteus Chocolat

Sticky, syrupy feel that is at least congruent with its heavy-handed sweetness. There's definitely chocolate involved (and it doesn't taste bad to be sure), but it’s drowned out in sugariness and feels like you’re drinking candy and not something of animal derivative.

Candia Viva Chocolat

Nicely chocolaty with nothing else (texture or flavor-wise) that detracts materially from the experience. The sweetness plays its supporting role rather well, enhancing the cocoa flavor rather than overpowering it.

Inex Ta Boe Choco Loco

Despite having zero sweeteners (natural or artificial), this does *feel* like it’s artificially sweetened. It gives a sensation on the tongue not too different from artificially sweetened products I’ve had, but I do trust the label. It’s not offensive, especially considering the zero sweetener claim— they’ve done well to make it palatable.

Dilea Choco

There's a pleasant caramel quality to it that isn’t hampered by an aftertaste or any other type of phoniness that you often get with that. It’s very thin, decently sweet, and goes down like a champ. Great option for the lactose averse.

Tine Litago Uten Sjokolademelk

More of a milky flavor than anything else— definitely light on chocolate, cream, and anything else worth your time, save a maltiness that is prominent despite feeling a little forced. It finishes clean, and is easy to snatch another sip— shit, they get progressively better..

Teho Sport Palautusjuoma Suklaa

Tastes like you'd expect a high protein drink would— undersweet, under chocolaty, over ‘enriched' (multi-vitaminy)-- none of which approach an extreme level (thankfully). The texture is dense and starchy, but not too drying. I've had a lot worse, but tastewise, it’s still sub par in the chocolate milk category.

Ehrmann High Protein Shot Chocolate

Creamy, almost 'airy' feel-- which is unique, as most protein-enriched chocolate milks feel dense or gummy. Lightly sweet with identifiable cocoa, this is a welcome surprise as it doesn't carry too much unnecessary baggage from a flavor standpoint. Definitely feels more indulgent than the label lets on.

Pirkka Pro Suklaa

Chalky, but still more milky than most other protein drinks out there. There’s a sharpness to the cocoa that feels just a tad off, but all things considered, it's a fairly decent tasting protein-enriched chocolate milk.

Rainbow Proteindryck Choklad

There’s a strange intensity to the flavor, which feels like it should burn, but doesn’t. The texture is definitely more milky than otherwise— a welcome difference to the normal protein drink, and there is cocoa flavor to be had. After the initial shock of the unique flavor, it becomes more palatable with each swallow.

Maitomaa Protein Performance

Strong and nearly rancid banana scent, though the flavor is more what you’d expect (much more banana than chocolate). Dense yet smooth and surprisingly not starchy-feeling, I found myself enjoying it more as I got used to it. There’s a mild wheaty undertone that becomes more noticeable in the aftertaste, but it’s not terrible considering its makeup.

Valio Pro Feel Suklainen Chokladsmak

Thickish and super drying to the mouth— quite a strong powdery quality. Flavorwise, it does well for having artificial sweeteners (they’re not over-present) and the chocolate is there but comes with a little sharpness initially. The more I drink, the more I’m used to the flavor but disgusted by how its coating the inside of my mouth.

Cserpes Sajtmuhely Laktozmentes Csokolades Tej

Perfectly nails the low viscosity / high creaminess ratio that so many others flub up in either direction. Unfortunately, they opted to go the no sugar added route (sweetened with stevia) which commands too much attention. This product has immense potential if only it would choose sugar as the sweetener. If I try hard enough, I can convince myself that I can taste the cardamom that it contains, though it's far from obvious.

Parmalat Laktozmentes Kakaos Tej

I’ve never actually wrung out damp tree bark and lapped the drippings, but this would be the flavor that I reckon would result. Water-thin, highly unsweet, 80% earthy, 15% wheaty, and the last 5% is hard to put a finger on, but for now let’s file it under ‘lichens.’

Mizo Kakao Light Laktozmentes

Palate-destroyingly sweet, and if you can persevere through the onslaught, you will find that your efforts were in vain; there’s nothing else behind it. The flavor isn’t ‘bad’ per se, it’s just rather pointless with something this sweet (artificial or not). I think people are more willing to accept a less-sweet ‘Light’ product— it should’t be amped up with artificial sweeteners to make someone feel that they’re having something indulgent.
